PhD Overview
Despite urgent global calls to tackle air pollution in Africa, most countries lack reliable air quality monitoring and data, limiting understanding of pollutant sources and their health and environmental impacts. My PhD research highlights Africa’s role as both source and receiver of atmospheric pollutants through a review of existing studies, field measurements in Malabo (Equatorial Guinea), and analysis of air mass transport, including effects of Saharan dust and volcanic eruptions on air quality in Spain and the Canary Islands. This research is essential to address data gaps and inform effective air quality management and policy.
