- PhD Title: Applicability of a Biotest Battery Developed for Temperate Regions to Tropical Environments: Implications for Sustainable Wetland Management
- Year of Completion: 2015

PhD Overview
This study evaluated the suitability of biotests developed in temperate regions for assessing pesticide contamination in soil, water, and sediment from Tanzania’s Kilombero Valley Ramsar Site. A total of 143 samples were collected from eight plantations. Toxicity was assessed using standardized tests with organisms like green algae, Vibrio fischeri, and Arthrobacter globiformis. The results were categorized into toxicity classes using a fuzzy rule-based expert system. Chemical, geochemical, and eco-toxicological analyses provided environmental risk data, and interviews with plantation managers helped assess potential human risk.

About Me
My research explores the water-biodiversity-health-food nexus, focusing on how climate and environmental stressors impact interconnected systems like ecosystem health, biodiversity, human well-being, and food security. I also work with Indigenous communities and IPLCs, assessing traditional food systems and resource management practices to conserve biodiversity and sustain food sources.
