PhD Overview
Aureliana’s research primarily focuses on the transmission analysis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in resource-limited, high-burden settings, where tuberculosis remains a major public health challenge. Her work aims to identify robust, cost-effective, and scalable tools capable of accurately tracking M. tuberculosis strains. By exploring and validating reference-free genomic methods, she seeks to enable more reliable strain typing and improve understanding of local transmission dynamics. This approach not only supports outbreak detection and targeted interventions but also has the potential to strengthen national TB control programs, ultimately contributing to global efforts to reduce the burden of the disease.
