PhD Overview

The PhD thesis advances the understanding of coupled human-water systems in the MENA region, focusing on Jordan. It identifies critical hydrological data gaps, evaluates the water accounting plus framework for improved water budgeting, and highlights the importance of integrated modelling combining satellite data, ground observations, and socio-economic factors. The research provides new insights on irrigation efficiency through field evidence and modelling, emphasizing the need for policy reforms alongside technical solutions. Overall, it offers practical recommendations for adaptive, integrated water management and presents a robust framework for addressing water scarcity in data-limited, climate-vulnerable regions.

Sustainability Goals

  • Clean Water and Sanitation
  • Climate Action

About Me

I am a water resources researcher specialized in coupled human-water systems and sustainable water management. My work, published in peer-reviewed journals, highlights innovative water accounting and modeling approaches that drive real change. I am proud to have been recognized by IWMI for my research work on the International Day for women and girls in STEM and to have received the World Food Forum Transformative Research Prize for my contributions to irrigation water management research in Jordan. With a strong commitment to bridging science and policy, I am focused on developing data-informed solutions that address the challenges faced by water-scarce regions.
